The Environment and Environmental Protection
Natural stone is a unique building resource obtained directly from nature.
It was one of the first building materials ever used by man.
Sensitively extracting natural stone spares environmental resources and state-of the art technologies ensure processing in a most environmentally friendly fashion.
At Zeidler & Wimmel environmental concerns are given highest priority.
Throughout the entire manufacturing process we make the most economical use of natural resources. Used water is recycled in the company’s own waste-water treatment plant. The dried sludge and wastage produced during manufacture is stored in the company’s holding dump in order to be used for backfilling closed quarries, thus forming a closed circuit.
After the quarry has been fully exploited it is given back to nature, consistently following a reclamation scheme drawn up even while extraction was still in full process.
The biotopes developing from these measures become areas of wildlife habitat and retreat, vital to many rare species of flora and fauna, or they are redeveloped as recreational sites for people. Depending on their suitability the sites may alternatively be used for forestry or agriculture.
It is our aim to preserve the ecological system for future generations by developing and improving our production processes consistently.
